Welcome to Emerald Bay Books
The mission of Emerald Bay Books is to marry books, documentaries, and new media, publishing vital and vibrant stories that will flourish in multiple venues, each work building an audience for the next work, all pieces acting in concert. In this way, we will ensure that every story fulfills its artistic and commercial potential.
The book business – and, in fact, the entire media world - is changing. In so many ways, in so many formats and arenas, various media outlets are exploding as never before. As outlets expand, so do the audiences, with more and more people around the globe participating in this media onslaught and exchange. Never mind the doomsayers, who bemoan the state of publishing houses, bookstores, and the written word. We are about to enter a golden age of the writer, where the creatively literate, the clear and clever wordsmith, will have the ability to create and distribute his own product, in a multitude of formats, from print to cyberspace, text to video, instantly and everywhere, gaining the work an impact greater than ever imagined. Not since the 15th century, when Gutenberg perfected a workable system of movable type, has there been such an exciting change in the way information and ideas are exchanged.
So join us, because this revolution touches all of us, because books and other media are both individual and communal experiences, common ground on which to build a discussion, to link to similarly interested people. The Internet was born to take advantage of that impulse, and it is our hope and intention that Emerald Bay Books will foster a community of those who seek to explore books, documentaries, and any ideas in virtually any form that grab the mind and heart.
